The Landscape of the Blues

In 1969, urban renewal, which our friend Furry Lewis called "urban removal," and other modernizations had not yet altered the vernacular landscape of Black America. At every stop along their journey from Chicago to the Mississippi Delta, the Adelphi crew took film and still pictures of what they encountered. A few are presented here.
